Academic paper formatter for submission-ready PDFs
Prepare an academic paper PDF for a journal, conference, or class portal: page size, page numbers, anonymized metadata, and file size, all in your browser.
Match the venue's page size
North American venues expect US Letter (612 × 792 points); most others accept or require A4 (595 × 842 points). Mixed sizes in one file are a frequent cause of rejection by automated checks. Resize PDF sets every page to one size in a single step.
Numbering rules differ by venue
Student papers and theses want page numbers; IEEE conference papers must not have them. Add them with Add Page Numbers or hide an unwanted footer by cropping the bottom edge with Crop PDF.
Anonymize for double-blind review
The PDF Author field usually contains whoever owns the Word or LaTeX installation. Remove PDF Metadata clears Title, Author, Subject, Keywords, Creator, and Producer locally, without uploading the manuscript.
Get under the upload limit
Portals commonly cap files between 10 and 50 MB. Compress PDF rewrites the file structure in your browser; for photo-heavy papers, also re-export figures at 300 dpi. The journal submission file size guide on PaperKit covers the details.
Trim scans and remove stray pages
Scanned signature pages and printed-then-scanned figures arrive with dark borders and an extra blank side. Crop PDF trims the border from every page, and Delete PDF Pages removes the blank one, so the merged submission looks like it was exported once, cleanly.
Final checks
Run a last pass so nothing is missed before the upload deadline.
- Extract the text with PDF to Text and search for "TODO", "cite", and "XX"
- Confirm the first page is the title page, not a blank export page
- Open the PDF in a second viewer to confirm fonts are embedded and nothing is substituted
- Merge the supplementary PDF only if the venue asks for a single file
How to use Resize PDF
- Drop a PDF file.
- Enter the new size.
- Save the resized PDF.

Frequently asked questions
What page size should an academic paper PDF use?
US Letter for most North American venues and A4 elsewhere, unless the call for papers says otherwise. Use one size for every page.
How do I remove my name from the PDF for blind review?
Remove it from the text, then run PaperKit Remove PDF Metadata to clear the Author and Title fields. Nothing is uploaded.
Can I do all of this without installing software?
Yes. Every PaperKit tool runs in a modern browser on desktop or mobile with no account.
